Quantros IT Consulting
The Customer: A 280-bed regional medical center.
The Challenge: Seamlessly migrate all historical data - including patient records, event data and department-specific information - from the customer’s legacy system into the Quantros Safety and Risk Management (SRM) system.
The Quantros IT Consulting Solution: Develop an automated conversion program to extract, map and insert data into Quantros SRM™.
With legacy data contained in hundreds of custom fields across several departments, this Java-based program supported a careful and efficient migration process:
- Created insert scripts to map legacy fields to appropriate destination fields within SRM
- Created multi-field mapping tables to resolve complex data mapping issues
- Modified XML mapping template to process a legacy data file for the client
- Updated configuration file information (i.e. Facility, Database Connection, XML File Name, etc)
- Executed automated program to extract and insert data into the SRM application database
- Verified log reports for failed records
- Compared identical reports from legacy system and Quantros SRM to ensure operational accuracy
Technology Used:
- Front End: Java, JavaScript, XML, In-house Driver Programs, Talented Tool, Batch scripts.
- Back End: Oracle Database 10g.
- Application server: Web logic
- Operating Systems: Linux, Windows XP
Key Results: The automated conversion program ensured a seamless data migration process while allowing the client’s staff to access historical data from day one. The Quantros IT Consulting Group’s significant medical event informatics experience ensured minimal intervention was required from the client’s IT staff. By combining a U.S.-based technical and project management team with offshore development resources, this data migration project was completed on time and under budget.
