NEWS VHA Partners with Quantros to Roll Out National Transformation of the ICU Initiative
Quantros, a leading provider of real-time web-based accreditation, compliance, and performance improvement solutions for the healthcare industry, has partnered with VHA Inc., a nationwide network of 2,200 leading community-owned health care organizations and their affiliated physicians, to power the VHA Transformation of the ICU program.
The initiative, which VHA kicked off at a national meeting in St. Louis on August 14, 2002, is designed to help health care organzations meet a variety of clinical, operational, and financial challenges centered around the intensive care unit. Using evidence-based practices along with revolutionary approaches to managing care within the intensive care unit, teams will apply shared lessons learned to their own specific settings.
"We are excited to participate in this project with VHA because it represents an opportunity to truly help hospitals balance efficiency and quality. Our online tools will help unlock the optimum staffing effectiveness levels that organizations need to provide the highest quality care -- and remain profitable," said Dr. Sanjaya Kumar, Chief Medical Officer for Quantros and a featured speaker at the VHA St. Louis conference.
Hospitals participating in VHA's Transformation of the ICU program will use Quantros' web-based performance improvement tools to collect, trend, and correlate data for select clinical, financial, staffing, satisfaction, and safety indicators -- all in real time. Participating hospitals will be able to assess performance along these indicators based on "peer" benchmarks developed during the project.
"Unsurpassed flexibility, speed to roll-out, ease-of-use, and real-time benchmarking make Quantros technology a perfect fit for conducting custom quality improvement projects like VHA's Transformation of the ICU program. We look forward to continuing to work with VHA to improve the quality of healthcare," said Dr. Rajnish Mishra, the President and CEO of Quantros.
VHA and its various regional affiliates have previously conducted quality improvement projects in the areas of medication error reduction, pain management, and outcomes improvement using Quantros software.
